St. Mary Goretti Parish

On June 28, 1950, Father Raymond W. Rau was appointed by Archbishop Ritter as the Administrator of the new parish of St. Mary Goretti in East Prairie.  Holy Mass was celebrated in various stores in the town until a church was erected.  The present church was completed and dedicated by Archbishop Ritter on June 28, 1953, a day of joy for Father Rau and the small parish of St. Mary Goretti.
